One of our clients commissioned his first tailored jacket. He works in the food and beverage industry whereas formal attire is not necessary but frequent client meetings require him to have a “proper” jacket to give a more professional image. He mostly wears chinos so navy is a safe choice to start with. He wants an easy-care lightweight jacket so he can carry it for business trips to Southeast Asia and no ironing is needed. Therefore, we decided to use mesh fabric to make a quarter-lined jacket without shoulder pads. The body canvas is extended through the shoulder to the back and covers the area where shoulder pads used to be placed. Like a padded jacket, shoulder seams and part of the seams of the sleeves are hand sewn to the canvas to hold the shape. The shoulder seam slants more backward to fit the slope of natural shoulders.
